Betty Elly Klimitz, B.A., Hon., B.Ed., (Specialist), M.Ed.

Betty Elly is the founder and director of Speaker Skills, founded in 1990. A recognized pioneer in her field, Betty offers a practical strategy for developing outstanding public speaking skills. Her unique approach that combines acting techniques, voice dynamics, presentational style and psychology has helped thousands of clients to successfully overcome their fear of public speaking and many continuing on to careers in professional speaking.

Her varied teaching experience and educational background has provided Betty Elly with the necessary skills to become a well-respected professional voice, presentation and executive performance coach.

Betty Elly graduated from the University of Toronto in 1976 with a Bachelor of Education degree as a Dramatic Arts Specialist. She received her Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from York University in 1975 with a combined major in Dramatic Arts and English. A life long learner Betty graduated from the University of Toronto with a post-graduate degree in Master of Education in Adult Education, Community Development and Counselling Psychology.

Betty taught Theatre Arts and English (OAC), Drama Workshops and Public Speaking Courses through the Toronto and North York Boards of Education and the University of Toronto for over twenty-six years.

A side interest as an accomplished vocalist, Betty founded “Betty Elly and Company” singing troupe and provided summer concerts for seniors. Betty also has worked as a voice-over artist specializing in television.

She also is a practicing visual artist having showcased her acrylic paintings at several galleries in Toronto. Bette Elly enjoys another passion as a published writer having contributed to several community newspapers through her two columns. Most recently she completed writing a segment for the television show entitled “Structures” which is about the neighbourhoods, institutions and sites of Toronto. Her segment is entitled Cedarvale.

Betty is proud to be a Professional Level member of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers, Facilitators and Trainers.
